Well not any more, since the sale of all the animals, including the recent departure of Tiny the elephant. This traditional circus has hit hard times. The clowns are drunk, the trapeze artist is foulmouthed and to top it all Cox’s Circus have opened up nearby with lazers and fancy, modern acts. Missy and Zack, the amazing brother and sister high flying act, face the end of their family business. Until…

Enter the gang of ‘yoofs’, a disaffected bunch of hoodies. Could these kids be the answer to all their
problems? After all, ‘People are the new animals!’ An exploration of tradition and youth culture, with a bit of politics for good measure, it’s the greatest show in town!
Sparks Circus is on its way down. The owners have been forced to sell their star attraction Tiny the elephant and a rival circus is poaching their artistes. With a busy bank holiday weekend approaching, it’s down to acrobatic twins Zack and Missy to fill the house and stop their family business from going under. When a local gang of bored youths volunteers to help them, the twins are faced with the task of training an un-trainable mob in circus skills.
Connections is a national festival of new writing and young theatre making. Across three days, you will have the chance to see seven exciting new plays performed by young people at the Lyric.
